Walk Leaders

Minnesota State University Moorhead's 2011-12 Female Student Athlete of the Year, Anna VanWechel, will be one of the leaders for the 2013 Dragon Fire Walk for Athletics, which is set for Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the MSUM campus. A native of Fergus Falls, Minn., VanWechel posted a highly-decorated career for the MSUM women's track and field program from 2008-12. She finished third in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in May 2012, earning All-American honors. Also during her senior year, she was third in the mile at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. "Being a dragon student-athlete provided me with some of my most cherished memories as well as life-long skills that have been invaluable to me now as I continue my education at the graduate level," VanWechel said. "I am extremely grateful for Dragon Fire and the scholarship it offered me. I encourage the continued support and participation in the Dragon Fire Walk to allow many more students-athletes to get the most out of their experiences at MSUM."
